I'M BOOOORED!

I've got some pintos cooking for dinner. Yum. But they won't be ready until 10 or 11.

I've got It's a Wonderful Life on in the meantime. Still not very exciting.

Soooo... whatchyou doing? Anything fun?

ETA: I think I'm going to play spa day and give myself a manicure. I may even paint the doggy's nails. Blue, of course, nice and manly. *snicker*

ETA2: Just saw this in my email:
We thought you would like to know... The item(s) listed below shipped today. *** DVD : JEEVES & WOOSTER-COMPLETE SET $ 24.95
Christmas present from me to me will arrive in time!!!

ETA3: I think I've reached the conclusion that George Bailey is kind of an ass. I don't think I would have saved him.

Okay, so as it turns out, I ended up missing all of Alice this week. I thought I could wait until Monday to watch it all at once, but had forgotten about a Christmas party I had to go to. (The bro's gf and I thought about skipping to stay home and watch it, but we decided to be *responsible* instead. D:) But I'm wondering, is does it have a horrible hanging ending and unresolved sexual tension that is going to make me want to get all fangirly on it? Because I do not want that. I am perfectly happy with my current obsessions and don't want to risk messing up the precarious balance that they represent.

My mom asked me the other day if I had snuck off to the doctor and gotten on ADD meds without telling her, because apparently I have been productive and focused and all sorts of good things lately. I started to jokingly tell her that it was all because I was fangirling Holmes and Jeeves right now and those are both old literary fandoms with brilliant main characters, but then I realized it was totally the truth. (I also realized that the last time I fangirled Holmes was Fall 03, aka My Only Semester of All Good Grades.)

tl;dr - Holmes and Jeeves make my brain behave, will Alice send it down a rabbit hole?

So I was watching the preview for next week's Bones and it was all Blah blah dead Santa blah naked Booth blah OMGOMGOMG Zooey!! I was just saying the other day how desperately I wanted to see them together in something. (They haven't done anything together before, have they?)

I really want to make cookies (the chocolate peanut butter ones from the recipe on the back of the Reese's pb chips bag) but I'm too lazy to scoop them into little balls. That is seriously my least favorite part of cookie making. Maybe I'll just do a big sheet cookie or something. ETA or maybe I'll mix up the dough, eat a few spoonfuls, then stick the rest in the fridge to cook later.

Just wanted to let those who were aware of it know that my surgery went well. Got one of the plates removed from my hand and am all drugged up and happy. :D

I. Must. Write. Haven't done any in a very long time, partially due to getting acquainted with new fandoms and new fandom styles and protocols. So I'm totally doing [info]wrisomifu, thanks to [info]kseda. grumble grumble But seriously, if I'm going to start school again this January, I have got to get warmed up for thinking and writing again, and this is as good a way as any.

I could also do with a bit more socializing. Hello flist!!! I'm sorry I haven't said much lately! How is everyone doing? Happy birthday [info]koslorollo!!

I was Lara Croft for Halloween. I really just wanted something that I could use my hair for, because I am going to be cutting it all off this week. I'm debating between my typical bob and a shorter, pixier cut. Current hair )

And on a fannish note:
Tin Man, House, Jeeves and Wooster )

1. New layout! All black and grey and ominous, partially for the season, but mostly because the brown I had before didn't show up well on my phone screen, which just wouldn't do. With a new layout comes a new default icon, because they have to match, of course. The only thing I had that was compatible was this little H/W, so it will do for a while.

2.a. English Tea Room! It was lovely and yummy and awesome. I had the Pearl Grey, which honestly I didn't care for as much as the classic Earl Grey, but it was still very good. They also do neat little to-go cups, with whole tea leaves and filter lids (brilliant!). The leaves are strong enough that you can refill it with hot water three or four times so I've been sipping tea all day long!

2.b. Little red teapot! I've been needing a teapot for the longest time and finally got one today. I bought it from a British guy, so you know it's got to make good tea. Anyway, I'm thinking it needs a name, but I have no idea what to call it! I picked it to match my kitchen, which attempts to be sort of 50's-ish diner themed, all red and chrome and all, so maybe something in keeping with that? Anyway, here's its picture! )

First off, I finally finally saw Alan Cumming introduce a Masterpiece Mystery! I've been trying to catch it for over a year now and something has always conspired to keep me away from the tv at exactly nine o'clock. He was so adorable with his sinister voice describing the plot!

And also I just saw that Zooey got married yesterday! Yay for her! \o/ (And what's-his-name, Death Cab for Cutie guy.)

ETA: Random Zooey Deschenal thought: After seeing that her mom played Kutner's mom on House, I've been wanting a crossover to exist where Kutner and DG are siblings. Somehow. Cause it would rock. And why not throw Bones in there too, since all three were in foster care/adopted/raised by robots. It makes since in my brain. *nod*

Just found out I may be taking a mini-vacation in two weeks to Washington DC. I've never been before so I'm super excited! We're actually going to Stafford VA (just below Quantico) for sheriff's office testing and interviewing, and scooting up to DC in the evening and the next day just to say we went.

But I'm totally nervous, because it looks like the best plan of attack would be to park at the furthest-out metro station and ride in and walk around and here's where I make a confession: I have never used public transportation before in my life. Never. I never even rode the bus to school. Where I live, if you don't have a car and a license, your ass stays at home.

So I'm kinda scared to death because there will be lines and routes and schedules and fees and other people and eep! But we'll see.

Anyway, any suggestions for quick and cheap must-see's? It's all a bit overwhelming right now!

I've actually been aware of this since around third grade, but it has recently come to my attention again. As much as I would like to sometimes, there is one single reason I could never be fully lesbitious: BASEBALL PANTS.

Gah. Run them bases, baby. Oh yeah, just like that. *fan*

Oh, and I really like cock, too.

From Dr. Polidori's Lord Ruthven to Stephenie Meyer's Edward Cullen, the annals of vampire lore are filled with attractive, charming bloodsuckers. Which one would you most want to be bitten by?

Udo Kier in Blood for Dracula. I would have gladly kept my virginity to save his life.

Pshh, whatever, I really just like that movie for all the hot sister-on-sister action.

...but I got Stephen Fry's nose. :D

I am pleased to report that I had a wonderfully uneventful birthday. (I say this, because the past several years have been Very Bad Birthdays.) As of right now, I have a half hour left to remain uninjured and not sobbing, so that counts as a good birthday for me.

But seriously, as cool as my fandom-twin-brother is for designing the Jeeves and Wooster cake, picture cakes still freak me out. Sorry.

Tonight's dinner consisted of spicey saffron rice, grapefruit, and drugs. Quite tasty.

The battery in my smoke detector is going dead. The beeping has been annoying, but it's dying down to a pathetic little sound, like someone plinking the highest C and B together on a piano.

A sudden bout of vertigo is sending the room round in mad circles. It'd be funny if I weren't the one stuck in the middle of it all.

I love my little icon bunny. Tell me, someone on my flist recognizes her?

I'm drawing again! It's basically crap, and hurts like hell, as my pencil grip has been forever altered (Corrected, actually - it's always been horrendous, but I don't have the strength in my ring finger for my natural grip any more, so I have to do it the right way) but it's great fun to be practicing. Anyway, I got my big ole sketch book out tonight and flipped through it, finding all sorts of fun drafts. Now, I know I'm not much of an artist, but I can usually, vaguely, get my point across. These, however, are not even up to that poor standard yet, so all you get is descriptions, not scans. Still, I thought they might amuse someone.

Page by page summary of my sketch book. )

In unrelated news, I'm trying to watch Wilde, but it's taking me a while, as I can only handle 15-20 minutes/day of the extreme hotness+angst. I can't help but be reminded of the old Titanic movie joke: ending spoiler = It sinks!

Surgery went well! Ended up with a bit more metal than I'd hoped for (a plate with six screws on the fifth metacarpal, plus a screw and a pin in my wrist), but it's all holding together well, so I can't complain much. Still drugged and sore and wanting to type up long posts musing on all sorts of things, but I just don't feel up to it dammit. I may end up making a voice post soon. I actually have the number for it saved in my phone, as pathetic as that sounds. Anyway, thanks again for all the well wishes and lots of love to all!

Thank you for all the lovely wishes! Still not up for much typing but wanted to post an update. Bruises and scratches are all healing nicely, though my right hand (the bit sticking out of the cast anyway) is zombie-rific shades of green and purple. I'm going back Mon to see if I will need the surgery, if so, it will happen on Thurs. Meds/pain/boredom has turned me into a raging bitch, though I am trying to keep it under control. Reading flist is keeping me from going crazy, so even though I'm not commenting, thanks very much for entertainment/distraction.
